Thomas Cook and Boondoggle give wings to Alexander’s wedding wish

Is there anything more romantic than a wedding? What about a surprise wedding at 30.000 feet, completely planned out in secret by your future husband and in the company of friends and family?
It turned out to be an almost unbelievable stunt by Thomas Cook, proving its relentless quest for new concepts and better service by making one couple outrageously happy. 

It started on Valentine’s Day 2014 with a simple post on Thomas Cook’s Facebook wall: if you could marry your girlfriend in the air, would you do it? About 25 men reacted, including Alexander. His “yes” was brought to life by Thomas Cook –but with a little twist: it has to be a total surprise, so your girlfriend has to be left in the dark.

With Alexander and some of his family-in-law in the loop, preparations for the secret stunt began: the trick to get his girlfriend on board of the aircraft, the ceremony, the guest list, rings, wedding dress…

Finally, #FlightYES14 took off. On the 3rd May, Alexander proposed to a clueless Marieke on board of a Thomas Cook Airlines flight to Rhodos. Now, there’s only one remaining question: did she say yes?
